Page 1 of 2 PHŒNIX BOOSTER is a source initially developed for radioactive beam production (RIB), with the so called « 1+ / n+ » method. Latest results show that in CW operation excellent efficiency can be obtained for application to multicharged beam, for example Zn1+ → Zn9+, Pb1+ → Pb24+ or In1+ → In20+. This source can also be used as ion trap and buncher (ECRIT). Phoenix booster uses conventional coils and can run at 14.5 or 18 GHz. The power consumption of Phoenix Booster is between 130 kVA to 190 kVA. The extraction voltage can vary between 10 kV and 36 kV. The total weight of the source is about 420 kg. ![]() Phoenix Booster ECR ion source |
